The first educational institution in Army Area Babina Cantt was opened in the month of Jul 1977 named “Station Sainik Nursery and Kindergarten School Babina Cantt” .
Army Primary School Babina Cantt was opened in Jul 1981 vide Army HQ, AG’s Branch letter No 13/42044/ESSA/CW-12 Dated: 25 Mar, 1980. The school was opened to provide quality education to the wards of serving and retired defence personnel including civilians paid out of defence estimate. This school had classed from Nursery to Class V.
During Jul 1981 to July 1985, two educational institutes were functioning at this station, i.e. Station Sainik Nursery and Kindergarten School and Army Primary School. In the month of Jul 1985 Station Sainik Nursery and Kindergarten School was merged with Army Primary School Babina Cantt .
Initially, a sum of Rs. 6,85,000/- was sanctioned for construction of a primary school building from the National Defence Fund but the construction of the new building comprising six class rooms with ancillaries could commence only in 1989 as the land (6 acres of A-1 land in Survey No 64) was allotted in 1989 only.
The Army Primary School Babina Cantt was converted into Army School Babina Cantt vide Army HQ, AG’s Branch, Letter No. B/42044/AWES/10-A/CW 4(a)-3 Dated: 26 Nov, 1993 and came under AWES with classes up to VIII.
Army School Babina Cantt was affiliated with CBSE New Delhi vides their letter No CBSE/Affl/21679/12011-15 Dated: 19Apr, 1994.
Affiliation up to class X (secondary school) was granted in the month of Apr 1997 and first batch of X class passed out in 1998. The school was granted affiliation for Senior Secondary School in Apr 1998 and the first batch of class XII passed out in 2000.
Thus school has progressively grown to 10+2 stage and presently has strength of 1066 children from classes I to XII divided into 32 sections.
In addition to the existing accommodation (06 class room), the school has been functioning in re-appropriated building of OTM accommodation allotted by Station HQ Babina Cantt.
